Drug peddler arrested in Manipur’s Jiribam district

Guwahati, February 12, 2019:

On February 10, 2019, at around 6 pm, teams of the commando unit of Manipur’s Jiribam district led by ASI Victor Haobijam were conducting frisking and checking when one person accelerated when he approached the fisking party in order to evade them.

The person was chased down and apprehended at Kalinagar, Jiribam. Five plastic packets containing 14 gm of ‘brown powder’ each was found on his person. The market value of the contraband items found on him is estimated to be Rs. 1.5 lakh in the local market.

The person, M. Laljit Singh, a resident of Kalinagar-III was arrested from the spot and has been handed over to the Jiribam police station. A case under FIR No. 08(02)2019 u/s 21(b) ND&PS Act has been registered at the Jiribam police station.
