In a latest crackdown against drugs in Manipur, the local police of Thoubal district have recovered approximately 400 kilos of what appears to be WY (World is Yours) narcotics, worth a whopping Rs 400 crore!
On Saturday, a combined team of Thoubal District Police in Manipur and two additional CDO teams with the assistance of members of Phoudel Keirambi Youth Club, Phoudel Keirambi and Panthoibi Women Welfare Association, and Phoudel Keirambi intercepted a Tata 207 DI vehicle bearing registration No. MN06LA-2847.
The vehicle was found in a very suspicious manner on the IVR of Phoudel Keirambi Mathak Leikai near mobile tower and it was suspected that some narcotic substances were kept concealed in his vehicle.
Due to the darkness and the suspicious location, the said vehicle along with the DI driver was brought to Thoubal Police Station for proper verification and checking.
Upon checking, the police forces detected forty lakh suspected contraband WY drugs. The total value of the seized suspected WY tablets is expected to be worth Rs. 400 Crores. The driver of the DI, namely Mohammad Hussain, was arrested.
On further follow up action, from the disclosure of the driver Mohammad Hussain, two persons, namely Mohammad Ayub Khan (41) 5/0 (L) Md. Azizur Rahaman of Yairipok wangkhem and 2) Md. Abdul Razak (35) 5/0 Md. Abdul Halim of Yairipok Tulihal who were facilitating in the transport of the narcotic substance were also arrested.
The whole operation which led to the one of the biggest seizure of suspected WY tablets in the Northeast India went off successfully as planned, including the follow up arrests.
A case has been taken up at Thoubal Police Station in connection with the seizures of the contraband narcotic substances and hence, arrest of four persons for further legal actions.
