The food safety Department under Government of Manipur and Moreh Police jointly conducted a drive against fruits which was imported from Myanmar on Tuesday.
The Drive is to check the fruits which were imported from Myanmar and determine whether they contained steroids or hormones which is harmful in human consumption.
In the drive, officials of the Department collected some quantity of mangoes, watermelons, and apple from roadside sellers to check the quality.
The officials of the Food Safety Department informed that if the collected fruits are found containing steroid or other chemicals which is harmful in human consumption, the Department along with Police will ban the importing of such fruits.
