Senior Congress leader and former MP from the Tezpur constituency, Moni Kumar Subba passed away in early hours of Monday. He was 61-years-old at the time of his passing.
Moni Kumar Subba breathed his last at a private hospital in New Delhi. He had suffered a stroke a long time back and had been undergoing treatment. Subba is survived by his wife, Pitmal Subba, one son and three daughters.
He was also an MP from Nauboisa and a former President of the 'Gorkha Sanmelam'.
Moni Kumar Subba was born on March 16, 1958, in Darjeeling of West Bengal. Subba stayed in Sikkim for a considerable period of time before moving to Assam.
He had been a member of the 12th Lok Sabha, 13th Lok Sabha, and 14th Lok Sabha from 1998 to 2009. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has taken to the social media platform to pay his condolences to the departed MP. He wrote: "Saddened to learn about the demise of former Lok Sabha MP Mani Kumar Subba. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and well-wishers in this time of grief."
