SHILLONG: The East Jaintia Hills police has arrested four Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), members who were involved in the IED explosion at a police reserve in the district. According to Meghalaya Police, the accused persons had boarded a vehicle and thereafter went to the police reserve to place the IED.
In an statement, G.K. Iangrai, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, said, “On the intervening night of 13th and 14th July , they triggered the explosion which resulted in minor damage of a police building and injuring one police personal.”

In another major breakthrough, the investigation of the case led to the arrest of two activists of HNLC who were involved in the unfurling of HNLC flag, in the year 2019 and in attempting to cause an IED explosion at a coke factory in Khliehriat.
The investigation of the case is still in progress and the investigation team is on the lookout for other activists of HNLC involved in the case.
