GURGAON: A 47-year-old grocery store owner was shot by three unidentified miscreants during an alleged robbery attempt at his store in Sushant Lok – 3, Gurgaon Sector 57 late Tuesday night, according to reports.

According to police, the store owner was shot in the leg, while the robbers managed to escape.

The grocery store owner has been identified as Azad Singh, a resident of Tigra village.

Reports suggest that the incident occurred around 8.30 pm, when Azad Singh was at his grocery store.

At the time of the incident, his two employees and a friend were also present at the spot.

According to police, among the three unidentified men, at least two were armed with country-made guns, barged into their store.

Singh in his police report said,  "One of the accused proceeded to steal the cash box. When I asked what he was up to, his companion told him to open fire. The accused then fired, striking my thigh. One of my employees attempted to apprehend them, but the trio fled across the road, where their motorcycle was parked and escaped.”

Singh then immediately rushed to a private hospital in sector 56, for treatment.

His condition is reported to be stable now.

Investigation on the matter is underway. Police checking the CCTVs in the area to identify the accused persons. however, the accused have yet to be identified.

Moreover, an FIR was registered against the accused persons under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 393 (attempt to commit robbery), 34 (common intention),  of IPC and relevant section of The Arms Act at sector 56 police station late on Tuesday night, said police.
