In 2019, Annu recorded a throw of 62.34m, bettering her own national record of 61.86m that she had set in 2017. This helped her qualify for the World Championships to be held in Doha later that year -- the event's qualification mark -- 61.50m.
Sanjana Chaudhary of Rajasthan came second with a distance of 54.55 metre, while Sharmila Kumari of Haryana bagged bronze with a distance of 50.78 metre.
Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju congratulated Annu on his Twitter handle: “ Hearty congratulations to Annu Rani for setting India's new national record of 63.24 meters in the women’s javelin throw at the Federation Cup in Patiala. She broke her own previous record of 62.43m set in 2019.”
