NEW DELHI: India in the past 24 hours recorded 3,48,421 new cases pushing the tally to 2,33,40,938.
The country reported the largest number of COVID deaths with 4,205 during the period bringing the death toll to 2,54,197, according to government data released today morning.
Since the pandemic started in 2020, this is the highest death toll India has ever seen in a single day.

With over 800 deaths Maharashtra once again topped the list. Other states with over 200 deaths per day include Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Karnataka.
Meanwhile, as many as 3,55,338 COVID-19 positive patients were discharged, and 1,93,82,642 patients have been recovered so far during the period
India currently has 37,04,099 active COVID cases. There are 100,000 active corona cases in 13 states.
Over 500 districts have shown a positivity rate of more than 10%.
Meanwhile, there is some relief for Delhi-NCR residents, as the national capital has improved, with a positivity rate of 17.7%.
