The test positive rate in India continues to decline. It is below 5 percent for the 18th time in a row, at 2.98 percent.
India vaccinated almost 8 million people earlier this week, but experts believe that even this exceptional rate may not be enough for a country still recovering from a deadly second wave to prevent a third.
On the other hand, as of Thursday and Friday, 64,527 more patients have been discharged, indicating that recoveries continue to surpass new infections. The total number of discharges now stands at 2,91,28,267.
According to the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India has tested 39,95,68,448 samples for COVID-19 so far.
According to the health ministry, the government has given out 30,79,48,744 anti-COVID shots so far.
