NEW DELHI: India has reported 62,480 new coronavirus cases and 1,587 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the union health ministry.
As a result, the country's active caseload has fallen below 8 lakh mark .
After 73 days the number of active cases has dropped below 8 lakh and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has surpassed 96 percent.

According to data updated, active cases have decreased to 7,98,656 accounting for 2.68 percent of overall infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 96.03 percent.
The COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 28,084 cases.
On Thursday, a total of 19,29,476 tests were conducted, bringing the total number of COVID-19 tests completed in the country to 38,71,67,696.
The country's current positivity rate is 3.24 percent.
According to the health ministry, it has been less than 5 percent for 11 days in a row and the weekly positive rate has dropped to 3.80 percent.
Kerala is the only state to report more than 10,000 infections with 12,469 cases.
