India reports 84,332 new COVID-19 cases; 4,002 deaths

NEW DELHI: India recorded 84,332 new cases of COVID-19 and 4,002 new deaths in the last 24 hours while the total vaccination number rose to 24,96,00,304, according to the Union ministry of health and family welfare on Saturday.

So far, the country has registered 2,93,59,155 coronavirus cases and 3,67,081 deaths.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country has dropped to 10,80,690 people.

As many as 2,79,11,384 patients have been discharged from the hospitals.

In India, daily cases have dropped below 1 lakh in recent days. According to the government, the percentage of positivity has decreased by 78 percent since its peak in early May.

However, the country continues to report the highest number of cases globally amid the second wave of infections.
