The Chief Minister and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh laid emphasis on speedy implantation of Inland Waterway project connecting Gomati with Meghna.
It will open up a huge connectivity opportunity for the state. The CM mentioned that Sonamura would be a gateway for the entire Northeast region if the project is implemented successfully within the stipulated time.
The Indian representative briefed the CM about the progress and implementing agencies determination to complete the Agartala-Akhaura railway project at the earliest.
A discussion on duel gauge or broad gauge rail link from Gangasagar (Akhaura) to Chittagong also came up for discussion. It is considered that it is important for the state to get the 205 km rail link converted into duel gauge or broad gauge to make Tripura a logistic hub of the Northeast region.
