BAGHDAD: A baby boy was born with three penises, to be the first of its kind in medical history, said a team of doctors.
The child was said to have born three months ago.
One measured 2 cm while the others were 1 cm in length. However, only one of the penises has a head.
Doctors assumed that he is the first human to be born with such an affliction. The condition is called triphallia, doctors said.
According to reports, since only the child's main penis was working, the doctors removed the extra penises.
The case of triphalia was reported in Duhok, in the north of the country.
According to the doctors, his parents rushed him to the hospital after finding "two tissue projections" at the base of his scrotum.

When the doctors learnt that they were penises, they were baffled.
“Triphallia (three penises) is a historically unexplained human condition. Patients with extraneous penises present differently, and no cases are identical. Treatment is challenging because it involves medical, legal and aesthetic issues. For management, a multidisciplinary team is required, as well as long-term follow-up. Depending on the corporal growth and anatomy of the urethra, the duplicate penis must be excised or reconstructed,” the team, led by Dr Shakir Saleem Jabali, wrote in the ‘International Journal of Surgery Case Reports’.
One of every six million boys is affected by diphallia, a disease in which an infant is born with two penises.
When Swiss doctor Johannes Jacob Wecker examined a cadaver in 1609, he found it.
Since then, around 1,000 cases have been reported. The condition is not dangerous in and of itself, but it can lead to health complications.
According to healthline, Diphallia is linked to a variety of other medical disorders.
Diphallia is often associated with other congenital abnormalities, such as intestinal and urinary tract issues.
