KOHIMA: The Jakhama sub-division administration under Kohima district has directed the village Covid core committees to monitor the developments in their concerned villages as the cases of Covid-19 taking surge in the State.
Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, Jakhama SDO (C), has issued a new set of guidelines to all the villages under the sub-division for strict compliance to contain and prevent the spread of the Covid-19 infection in rural areas.
The order stated community surveillance of people with Covid-like symptoms should be immediately activated to proactively deal with any possible spread of the virus in the villages.
The order also instructed the villagers o set up a village surveillance team (VST) comprising ASHA workers from the medical department, angawadi workers from the social welfare department and SHGs from NSRLM (RD).

VST will regularly monitor the health status of the villagers in their respective villages and identify anyone with influenza-like illness (ILI), including fever, cough, cold and difficulty in breathing. Any person with such symptoms will mandatorily be advised for self-quarantine/isolation and all such cases should be reported to the medical officers in the subdivision.
Regular announcements in the village through public address systems need to be carried out to this effect to spread awareness in the village for compulsory observance of Covid appropriate behaviours by all the villagers.
The order also said suitable facilities in the village should be identified for use as village quarantine facility in case of requirement.
The public burial grounds at a suitable location in every village should be identified for use in case of emergency. Disposal of dead bodies of Covid patients should be strictly done in compliance with the SOP issued by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority.
