Kamakhya temple re-opens for the devotees from today

The Kamakhya Devalaya Management Committee has decided to open the doors of the temple complex for the devotees to perform parikrama from today onwards.

The committee, in a statement issued on Saturday said the maximum time allotment for each devotee will be 15 minutes, as social distancing has to be maintained.

“The inner sanctum sanctorum will remain closed. This has been done as per discussion with the district administration. The devotees and others will have to follow

Covid guidelines issued by the government in order to prevent the spread of the virus,” a spokesperson of the temple management committee informed

The statement issued by the committee stated that the Devalaya complex gate will remain open from 8 am till sunset on normal days.

However the timings may differ during Durga puja.

“People can enter between 8.00 am and 1 pm and 2 pm and 5.30 pm,” said the committee, adding that police and health department officials will be deployed at the entry point to screen the devotees,

“If anyone has tested negative for Covid-19 in the last three days and can produce a report, then they may enter.

The others will have to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test at the entry point”.

After reaching the hilltop, the devotees will have to show their reports to the security persons & proceed further.

Then they will have to collect the Entry Card from the Annakshetra office situated in front of Chinnamasta/Kameswar Mandir & proceed to the Devalaya complex.

Earlier, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kamakhya Temple was closed for almost 7 months.
