In a noble humanitarian move and cause to save previous human lives, the Kepang Erang Yameng Kebang (KEYK), youth wing of Kepang Erang Kebang (KEK), a one of major society of Adi community comprising several clans like Pertin, Perme, Borang, Ratan, Perying etc conducted a voluntary blood donation camp at Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH), Pasighat here today on the occasion of Etor Giidii (Solung Etor festival).

Reportedly 137 total volunteers of KEYK had registered their names and after thorough medical checkups and also as per the present stock capacity of the blood bank, 36 youths including some senior members donated blood.  Dy. Commissioner, Pasighat, Tamiyo Tatak, District Medical Officer, Dr. Mandip Perme, Joint Director Health Services BPGH Pasighat, Dr. D. Raina, Medical Superintendent, Dr. YR Darang, ADC (HQ) Tatdo Borang and Kepang Erang Kebang President , Todol Pertin, KEYK President, Nong Borang all graced the blood donation camp and motivated the youths.

“Such blood donations will inspire other societies as well which will safe many needy patients at the time of need as at times, money can’t also buy blood” said Dy. Commissioner, Tatak and Jt. Director, Dr Raina.  Blood is a scarce resource and there is a huge gap between demand and availability. Tatak opined hope that, blood cannot be manufactured, rather it only comes from generous donors. Tatak also highlighted the importance and benefits of blood donation and said that such camps would go a long way to minimize the paucity of blood in health institutions and he also appealed other individuals and societies to organize similar blood donation camps which is no less a Godly initiatives.

The DC also launched the “eRaktkosh” web portal for the Blood Bank on the occasion which is a central government initiative to digitalize all licensed blood banks in the country. “From now on any blood needy can log on to www.eRaktKosh.in and look for availability status of blood in any Blood Bank in the country. Mobile app eRakhtKosh can also be downloaded from google play store or Apple App Store to use the facility”, informed Dr. Gegong Jongkey, Pathologist cum Blood Bank Officer and Dr. Kaling Jerang. “All the other infrastructural rooms like Blood Component Separation Unit (BCSU) are ready, but required equipments are yet to be received from the government to make the unit operational”, added both Dr. Jongkey and Dr. Jerang.

Meanwhile, Kepang Erang Kebang, President, Todol Pertin said that they are doing this blood donation camp for helping needy patients who often dies due to need of bloods. "We will organize 2nd phase of similar blood donation camp at Roing General Hospital at Lower Dibang Valley if needs and arrangements are made by the medical authority there", added Pertin.
