KOHIMA: Kohima Police has arrested two ATM operators for allegedly stealing Rs 1.84 crore intended for cash replenishment at Kohima ATMs.
Mankai Konyak, 32, and Santosh Khatri, 27, arrested yesterday, are employees of M/s Writer Business Service Pvt. Ltd., a cash replenishment agency for State Bank of India, and were working as ATM operators, according to Kohima Police.

The preliminary investigation found a cash shortage of Rs.1,84,56,500 (Rupees one crore eighty-four lakhs fifty-six thousand and five hundred) in 15 State Bank of India ATMs across Kohima Town, said Kohima Police.
In this regard, a case has been filed at North Police Station, and a special investigation team, headed by SDPO, is investigating it (North).
Police also recovered an amount of Rs 38,48,000 (Rupees thirty-eight lakh and forty-eight thousand) during the investigation.
“Further investigation is under way to determine the mode of operation and involvement of individuals in the fraudulent misappropriation of money intended for ATMs,” said notification.
