Lockdown in Delhi extended by one more week:CM Arvind Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: Lockdown in Delhi has been extended by one more week, said state chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The national capital Delhi will remain under lockdown until May 24.

Even though daily COVID new infections have dropped to 6,430 as of yesterday, with an 11 positivity average, Delhi is considering extending the lockdown.

“Following the lockdown, we've seen a lot of improvements. Corona cases have been on the decline. We don't want to squander the gains we've made in recent days. The lockdown will be extended for another week. Lockdown in Delhi has been extended until 5 am next Monday instead of tomorrow, said CM Kejriwal.

Since April 20, when the lockdown was first imposed in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the capital, this will be the fourth time Delhi's week-long lockdown has been extended.

Following a six-day curfew that lasted until April 26, the lockdown was extended until May 3, then again until May 10, then again until May 17, and now until May 23.

Delhi in the past 24 hours recorded 6,430 new COVID-19 cases and 337 new fatalities, while the positivity rate fell to 11.32 percent.
