MUMBAI: Somewhat surprisingly, the latest saga of love is being written in COVID-19 stricken Mumbai in the midst of a raging pandemic that has left the entire country in shambles.
User Ashwin Vinod, a Twitter user with a mere 14 followers and no profile picture became a viral meme after he posed a rather innocent query to the Mumbai Police.
Tagging the official handle of the Mumbai police on Twitter, Ashwin wrote today, "@MumbaiPolice what sticker should I use in order to go out and meet my girlfriend? I miss her."
Somewhat surprisingly, Mumbai Police responded with a retort that has left the entirety of Twitter in splits!
"We understand it’s essential for you sir but unfortunately it doesn’t fall under our essentials or emergency categories! Distance makes the heart grow fonder & currently, you healthier P.S. We wish you lifetime together. This is just a phase. #StayHomeStaySafe," the police department posted from its official Twitter handle.
Meanwhile, the Twitterverse is having a gala time roasting Vinod over his innocuous query.
"Tell ur Parents and get married...Live together" suggested one user, while another wrote, "That was really sweet. Hope u guys can meet soon. All the best to you both."
There were some users, however, who did not take too kindly to his tweet and accused him of wasting the police's time.
"If she loves u...she will come over....but if she is a responsible citizen then unlike u she won't waste the precious time of Mumbai police and stay put....idiot..get a life," wrote a user going simply by the name 'Jerry.'
"However weird is your sense of humor please let's not make resources to spend on such things. Let's honor the time of police and all other folks who are on the edge right now," posted user mangoCitizen.
