AIZAWL: Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, chief secretary Mizoram, has announced in a released statement yesterday that a state-level special investigation team (SIT) to probe into the wildfire series that broke out from April 24 onwards this year.
The SIT committee assigned R.S. Sinha, Chief Conservator of Forests, as the chairman of the state executive committee along with three other members.

As well as the team to examine the existing provisions of law, instructions, and institutions in place to mitigate, prevent and respond to fires and to recommend any modifications or supplements required.
The team will also examine and document the various means deployed for control and containment of the fires.
SIT committee to probe into the causes, casualties of the fire outbreak. Deputy Commissioners at the district level are instructed to render all necessary support to the special investigation team.
SIT will have to submit all the reports within the period of two months.
