MAHARASHTRA: Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said the state government agencies would probe the row over the tweets by celebrities and cricketers such are actor Akshay Kumar, retired cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, singer Lata Mangeshkar, shuttler Saina Nehwal and many more on the farmers’ protest, and also struck the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that the national heroes are being intimidated by the ruling party.
Congress colleague Sachin Sawant pointed out that there were exactly the same tweets by actor Akshay Kumar and badminton player Saina Nehwal, while actor Suniel Shetty tagged a BJP leader in his tweet.
He further said that after MEA's response to American pop star Rihanna's tweet, there was a series of tweets. If a person opines on their own, be it a celebrity, it's fine, but there's a possibility of suspicion that this could be behind BJP. “We have cited common words in these tweets such as ‘amicable’."
Sawant alleged that the BJP is behind the tweets putting up by the celebrities. He said that Bollywood celebrities, Indian cricketers and known personalities were tweeting identical messages on the farmers’ protest are doing so under the pressure of the BJP.
Sawant further stated that if these personalities are under pressure, then the state need to give protection to them.
