Major Landslide Hits Sikkim, One Injuredlandslide

Gangtok, September 17, 2019:

A major landslide has hit the state of Sikkim on Monday night at Tsong village near Yoksam causing huge damage to property.

Several houses and animal sheds were damaged and a lady, reportedly, got injured and is being treated at Yoksam PHC.

The administration, police, forest personnel along with NDRF and local public visited the site.

Following the landslide, all the villagers have been shifted to safe areas and lodged in nearby houses and hotel. The area was surveyed on early Tuesday morning and necessary action and help have also been extended.

The situation is being monitored by Sikkim Chief Minister PS Golay.

Relief and Rescue teams consisting of QRTs, KNP, NDRF, local youth and police have been deployed at the Tsong village. One Section of SSB had also been requisitioned for Yoksam.

It is to be mentioned that the roads to Yoksam are being restored and men and machinery has been mobilized.
