Officers of the Customs Preventive Force, Moreh arrested a person with 30,000 amphetamine WY tablets weighing 3 kilograms worth Rs 3 crore on Wednesday from Moreh.
Assistant commissioner RK Darendrajit Singh said, “One person, David Doungel aged about 32 years, has been arrested in this connection. The seized contraband drug and the arrested person was intercepted at about 10.30 am, near the Moreh petrol pump, Chikim veng, along the Imphal Moreh National highway 102. The contraband drug was of Myanmar origin.”
The tablets were being smuggled from Myanmar and were intercepted while the smuggler was transporting them to Imphal from Moreh. A case has been taken up under the NDPS Act 1985. The seized drug is valued at Rs 3 crore, Further investigation of the case is going on, said the release.
