MAHARASHTRA: A 32-year-old man in Maharashtra reportedly killed his neighbour by stabbing him multiple times with a knife over a petty dispute on a missing mobile phone, said police.

The incident took place in Pimpri area of Maharashtra's Thane city late on Monday night, said police.

The deceased has been identified as Aazad Umed Ali Khan (35), a resident of Pimpri, Thane.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Jamal Mohammed Rais.

According to reports, Aazad Umed Ali Khan was searching for his missing phone with all his neighbours, and when he went to ask Jamal Mohammed Rais about his missing mobile phone, Rais got angry and charged at him with a knife, stabbing him multiple times.

Aazad Umed Ali Khan died on the spot.

Later, on receiving information police rushed to the spot for further investigation, and sent the body to a government-run hospital for post-mortem examination, said police.

A case has been registered against the accused with the Shil-Daighar Police Station in Thane city zone under section 302 (murder) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
