Imphal (Manipur), 31 July 2018:
In a major development, veteran Manipur politician and ruling BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson Okram Joy announced his resignation from the ruling party’s primary membership.
Announcing this at a press conference at his Kakwa residence here on Monday, Okram cited alleged failure of the ruling BJP-led government in resolving the issues like disputed border pillar no. 81 set up by Myanmarese authorities inside the territory of Manipur, Framework Agreement and Manipur University imbroglio as reasons behind his decision.
He also announced dissolution of BJP Langthabal Mandal with immediate effect.
Talking to reporters, the veteran politician recalled that he had joined the BJP with the hope of bringing change and development in the State.
He, however, regretted that his belief in the party and anticipation for “good days” in the country under the slogan “achhe din” had been contradicted by activities of the present BJP leadership.
“BJP’s achhe din has flopped in Manipur. Instead of acche din, killings and other crimes have become order of the day in Manipur,” he alleged.
