Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh appealed to the agitating faculty members of Manipur University and students to call off their stir and help restore the academic atmosphere in the Central varsity.
Speaking to reporters, Singh also urged them to withdraw their ongoing stir demanding removal of Vice-chancellor Adya Prashad Pandey following allegations of several irregularities against him, so that the fact-finding team can visit the university and carry out probe.
The Chief Minister asserted that the State Government wanted truth to prevail.
Pandey has already been asked to go on a 30-day leave with effect from Thursday, while Professor W Vishwanathan of Life Science Department has been given the responsibility of discharging the functions of VC in his absence.
