Manipur | Drug smuggler with contraband items worth Rs. 5 crores apprehended

Guwahati, February 26, 2019:

A combined team of Tengnoupal District Police, including Woman Police Constables, apprehended a drug smuggler today, from Yangaoubung village in Manipur's Moreh district.

The smuggler has been identified as Jilkhongam Lhungdim, 44 years old, alias Tarmon. The police seized brown sugar (2.376 kgs), heroin powder (244g), 342 WY packets (each containing 200 tablets), Rs. 23 lakh in Indian currency, Kyat 1,90,000 in Burmese currency, which together may approximately cost about Rs.5.582 crore.

The case has been registered against the accused in the Moreh police station for further investigation.
