Imphal, December 26, 2019:

A huge quantity of contraband drugs worth over Rs 1.21 crore has been recovered from a vehicle at Tengnoupal check post in Manipur on Wednesday by Assam Rifles.

In a statement issued by IGAR (South) conveyed, “The Assam Rifles stopped a suspicious silver-colored Maruti Van travelling from Moreh towards Imphal. On conducting a thorough check of the vehicle, the Assam Rifles troops found 45 packets of suspected Brown Sugar (weighing approximately 607 grams) valued at more than Rs 1.21 crore inside the vehicle.”

The drug was found hidden in the handbags of lady passengers aboard the vehicle. The lady passengers have been identified as Hatneilhing Singson (18) and Hoikholhing (35).

The recovered drugs were worth over a crore. The two individuals, along with the recovered contraband drugs, have been handed over to the Tengnoupal Police Station.
