
In an initiative to develop football at the grassroots level in Manipur, the state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre for Microfinance and Livelihood, an associate organisation of Tata trust, on Monday.
The event was held at National Sports Academy in the presence of Manipur CM N. Biren Singh. As per the MoU, 30 grassroots level football academies would be set up at different areas in Manipur.
The Manipur CM also informed that astro-turf would be laid at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 crores on a football ground in Imphal’s west district.
He also affirmed that two other football fields are also to be developed in capital Imphal at the cost of Rs. 4 crores each.
