The Manipur government sanctioned an amount of Rs 5 lakh each for the construction of toilets in each tribal museum dedicated to 32 different tribes of the state.
Manipur govt sanctions funds to construct toilets in tribal museumsIMPHAL: The Manipur government on Friday sanctioned an amount of Rs 5 lakh each for the construction of toilets in each tribal museum dedicated to 32 different tribes of the state.
The amount will also be utilized in purchasing display cabinets to showcase the traditional artifacts of the tribes in their respective museums.
"The Govt. had sanctioned Rs 10 Lakh each to 32 different tribes of Manipur to establish small museums to preserve their indigenous artefacts. We are sanctioning an additional amount of Rs 5 lakh each to construct a toilet and purchase display cabinets to showcase the arefacts", tweeted the Chief Minister.
The state government had earlier announced Rs 10 lakh each to 32 different tribes to establish small museums aimed to preserve their indigenous artefacts.
Reportedly, the construction of the museums are nearing completion.
The construction work is being supervised by the Department of Art and Culture and executed by committees of tribal communities.
The Chief Minister is likely to inaugurate all the museums together via video conferencing.
