IMPHAL: The Manipur government on Wednesday announced that it would waive 50 percent tuition fees for all private and govt aided schools in the state in view of the pandemic.
In an official notification, the state education department stated that no fees will be charged from the students who have lost both their parents due to COVID-19.
The state government also announced that 30% of salary will be deducted from the monthly salaries of the teachers.

However, the education department said that if any parent wishes to pay more than the prescribed 50% of the monthly fees in the interests of the teaching community during this time of crisis, the department will have no objection to a consequent increase in the salary.
The new fee and salary structure will be applicable starting from May 1 until further orders.
Online classes shall continue to the extent possible, the department said.
It also urged everyone to abide by the COVID protocols issued by the central as well as the state government.
