IMPHAL: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh today distributed financial assistance for handicrafts tool kits to over 1,500 handicrafts artisans under the North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme.

 

The chief minister also provided agriculture machineries and equipments under Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) scheme to farmers of different districts in the state.

“Immensely glad to distribute financial assistance for handicrafts tool kits under North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme to 1500 handicrafts artisans through DBT, and Agriculture Machineries & Equipments under SMAM Scheme to farmers of different districts today,” the CM later tweeted.

 

It needs mention here that the North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme (NERTPS) is a project-based umbrella scheme aimed at promoting the textile industry in the North East Region by providing infrastructure, capacity building, and marketing support.

Textiles, handloom, handicrafts, sericulture, jute, and other value chain sectors and subsectors are covered by the system.

 

On the other hand, the 'SMAM' was launched in 2014 and aims to have inclusive growth of farms mechanisation to "boost productivity."
