Manipur: NAB Busts Drug Manufacturing Unit, 461 Kg Drugs Seized

Imphal, January 9, 2020:

A suspected brown sugar manufacturing unit was busted and drugs weighing 461 kg were seized from Manipur's Kangpokpi district.

A team of the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) led a raid at the manufacturing unit located at Phaijang village near Saikul in Kangpokpi.

The team recovered 461 kg of suspected brown sugar (remnants of processed opium), 136 L of suspected liquid form of opium(morphinated solution), 100 kg lime, 17 bottles of Ammonium Chloride, rubber gloves, 2 iron pressing machines, weighing scale, etc.

The suspected manufaturing facility was found located at about 400 m up on the slope of Phaijang hill, in the jungle. The NAB team could not apprehend anyone as the workers had already fled the scene fearing police presence.

Police is investigating the matter and launching search operations to nab the culprits. No arrests have been made so far.
