Medical authorities have confirmed that there is no woman with coronavirus-like symptoms in Manipur after reports that one suspected case was detected and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to Additional Director of Public Health, Manipur, the news reports were untrue. Earlier it was reported that a woman named Moirangthem Roshini Devi had coronavirus-like symptoms and was undergoing treatment in Imphal.

It was also reported that she had travelled to Hong Kong recently and returned on January 20. However, these reports have been termed untrue by Manipur’s medical officials.
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital in Imphal has also issued a letter to the Imphal West district’s Superintendent of Police to take necessary instructions and direct the cybercrime branch to delete those pages reporting the presence of coronavirus in the hospital.

“Recently, in the Face Book/Whats App it was uploaded that Corona Virus infected patient is admitted and treated at RIMS Hospital, Imphal. Here, I will like to clarify that there is no Corona Virus infection in the RIMS Hospital,” a letter signed by RIMS medical superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar Singh read.
It may be mentioned here that Coronavirus has led to the death of as many as 170 people in China. The infection is also spreading to the neighboring areas. India is preparing to evacuate nations from Wuhan, the epicenter of the disease.

Manipur health department has also taken necessary measures to prevent the penetration of the deadly disease. Medical Officials have also been deputed along the India-Myanmar border towns of Moreh and Behiang for screening of persons.
