In a major blow to drug peddling operations in the state, the Manipur police along with a team of Narcotics and Border Affairs busted a brown sugar factory which was operating in the residence of a certain Md. Matalip of Lilong Dam.
The team was led by NAB Additional SP, Th. Brinda, OC B. Rishikesh Sharma and Thoubal Additional SP S. Sachidananda under the supervision of SP NAB assisted by Anjuman, Lilong.

The team also seized 1,111,915 kg of Brown Sugar from the site and arrested three people in relation to the case. The accused have been identified as Samim Pusam (35), Md Matalip (40), and Md Serajuddin Mohammad (29).
Several chemicals, equipment, and tools used for the manufacture of heroin brown sugar have been recovered from the factory. Lime, vice, iron plates, huge pots, huge plastic bin, rubber hand gloves, LPG gas cylinder, white clothes, and clothing are some of the articles recovered directly from the manufacturing site.
The seized drugs are estimated worth over Rs. 100 crore in the international market.
