Imphal, February 9, 2020:

A joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police have busted an illegal drugs manufacturing plant at Kamu Saichang area in Thoubal district and seized contraband items worth Rs 120 crore.

The team of Assam Rifles and Maphou Police recovered approximately 29 kg of Heroin Brown Sugar (Solid), 20 litres of Brown Sugar (Liquid), 8 kg of Marijuana, including equipment and chemicals used for processing of drug from the residence of an individual.

According to the Police, the plant was being utilized to extract Morphine from Opium, which was further processed into Brown Sugar and Heroin. The drug after processing was being supplied in the form of loose bags and moulded bricks to the youth of Manipur and Nagaland, informed the authorities.

The team has apprehended a lady identified as Elizabeth Khongshai. while the owner of the house in which the drug processing plant was functioning is currently absconding.

The apprehended woman and seized contraband items have been handed over to Maphu Dam Police Station for further investigations.
