A leading figure of the militant outfit People's Liberation Army (PLA) has been arrested by Manipur Police from Babu Bazar in Manipur’s Thoubal district, on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as self-styled Sergeant Major Chingsubam Salaingamba Meetei alias Araba (40) of the People's Liberation Army.

On preliminary verification, Araba disclosed that he had joined the militant outfit in May 2010, through a linkman called Dilip of Soibam Leikai. He got 45 days’ basic military training at Eastern Nagaland, Myanmar, under army number 3220 of the 2011 batch.
He militant further revealed that he got promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major (SS) in June of 2019. At the time of his arrest, he was presently at GHQ in Nongket of Myanmar and working under the command of the self-styled Lieutenant Ningthem.
After the interrogation, Araba was handed over to Thoubal Police for further investigation. More details are awaited.
