A blast, suspected to be triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), shook Manipur capital Imphal on Saturday morning. It was reported around 5 in the morning.
No casualties have been reported from the area of the blast as of now, however, a shop was damaged in the blast that took place at Ngari Gali in Imphal Bazar.

It may be mentioned here that the suspected IED blast took place about 800 metres away from the Imphal Police station, according to reports. Further details are awaited regarding the suspected IED blast.

It is pertinent to mention here that a low-intensity IED also went off near a mega store at Chingmeirong locality in Imphal on December 6. According to police officials, a mobile phone had triggered the explosion which occurred at around 6 am.
