MOREH: In an unfortunate incident, two brothers were killed while a WW II vintage shell exploded at the border town of Manipur- Moreh Ward no. 9 known as Gangte Veng village around 4:20 PM.

The two deceased has been identified as Mr. Lalsangmoun Gangte (24) &  Mr Lienkhogin Gangte ( 22  ).

Initial reports said the two were cutting the shell with the grinder to recover the explosive to use further for fishing. It also reported that few months back a number of WW II period unexploded bombs were recovered from the nearby areas.

Moreh is a a town bordering Myanmar and during WW II Japanese forces came through this side and heavy fighting were happened along this border areas.

From time to time - many WW II remnants -like unexploded shells, many archaeological items related to WW II were recovered.
