IMPHAL: The body of a young man who drowned in a river to escape being arrested for breaking a COVID-19 curfew was recovered  at Imphal, Manipur.

The incident occurred after a young man drowned in the nearby Imphal river while playing football at the KR lane football ground in New Checkon.

On Sunday, a team of IRB (Indian reserve battalion) officers dispersed some youths of Hatta Golapati area who were playing football at KR lane football ground, Manipur.

Three or four youths went towards the river to cross it, frightening by the police.

Md Fariz Khan, 24, son of late Isllaudiri drowned in the river while fact that some of them managed to cross the river.
