IMPHAL: Indian weightlifter S Bindyarani Devi from Manipur won the first gold medal for the country at the ongoing 2021 IWF World Weightlifting Championship in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent.
She won the gold medal in the women’s 55-kg Clean & Jerk.
According to a reports, the overall gold medal went at 203 kgs and Bindyarani was placed at 9th in the Snatch category with the best lift of 84 Kg.
“1st First gold medal for India at IWF World Championships 2021. S. Bindyarani Devi wins GOLD in Clean & Jerk category with a lift of 114kg in Women’s 55kg event, finishing 4th overall. Great effort by Bindyarani. Many congratulations,” SAI tweeted.
The DoNER Ministry has also congratulated Bidyarani for her achievement.
