New Delhi, October 30, 2019:

In yet another stride forward for women of the Northeast, Khasi girl Marbiang Khongwir, has been sworn in as the President of the New Delhi Unit of the Khasi Students' Union (KSU).

After being sworn in on Saturday, Marbiang Khongwir has become the first female President to lead any unit of the KSU. The election was held at 9-APJ Abdul Kalam Road in New Delhi. Along with Khongbir, 30 individuals were also sworn in as office bearers.

Speaking on the occasion, Lambokstar Marngar urged the students to remember their Khasi identity.

The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) established in 1978 is a brain-child of a group of students to safeguard the rights of the Khasi community through a common platform.
