A nine-year-old girl from Shillong, Meaidaibahun Majaw, has surprised many by developing a mobile app that will help school students report about harassment incidents to the authorities.
Meaidaibahun, who is studying in the fourth standard, had herself been subjected to bullies on several occasions and therefore, decided to develop an application to help others.
The nine-year-old claimed that the mobile app would be one way to take on the offenders. “The mobile application will accept the bully’s name and details of the incident, allowing victims to inform teachers, school authorities and parents about them anonymously,” Meaidaibahun was quoted saying.
The application will soon be available on Google Playstore. According to her family, Meaidaibahun has developed 40 different applications. The application meant for school students was reportedly developed within a month.
The Meghalaya girl’s work has also been selected for the White Hat Junior Challenge, a global contest held in the US.
