Meghalaya was awarded the Condé Nast Traveler India Readers' Award 2019 in the 'Favourite Emerging Destination' category in Delhi last evening.

Expressing his happiness at this very impressive feat, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma took to Facebook to express his happiness. "Our State has huge tourism potential with its breathtaking scenic appeal. I invite everyone to experience the beauty of Meghalaya", the Chief Minister stated.

Tourism in Meghalaya has developed by leaps and bounds over the years, with capital Shillong being one of the hottest hilly destinations for tourists from across the nation.

Recently, Meghalaya capital Shillong hosted the fourth edition of its India International Cherry Blossom festival from 13 November to 16 November, 2019.

Music gigs, a beauty pageant and stalls showcasing the cuisine, wine, arts and crafts of the region will be on display at the colorful annual festival.

The 4th edition of the festival was held across 5 venues in the area namely: Polo 5th Ground, State Convention Centre, Golf Course, JN Stadium, and Indoor Stadium Polo.
