Meghalaya administration gears up to 'beautify' capital city ShillongConrad Sangma

Shillong, May 9, 2019:

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday met with officials from the Urban Affairs Department, PWD, Transport, Revenue, and other concerned departments to identify and utilize locations in Shillong for the creation of public spaces that will serve to beautify and also decongest the city.

It is believed that once completed, the projects will become iconic landmarks that people can identify with while visiting Shillong.

It may be mentioned that Shillong is one of the major tourist destinations in the North-East and is located in close proximity to many famous tourist landmarks such as the Umium.

Everyone in the city has joined to beautify the region.

Shillong is a hill station in northeast India and capital of the state of Meghalaya. It’s known for the manicured gardens at Lady Hydari Park. Nearby, Ward’s Lake is surrounded by walking trails. North, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays on the region’s native people. Waterfalls include the Elephant Falls to the southwest. East of here, forested Shillong Peak offers city views
