SHILLONG: Atleast six people died after a bus carrying 21 passengers fell into the Ringdi river in Meghalaya’s Nongchram at 12 am.
Rescue team and emergency services rushed to the accident site to help the victims.
Four dead bodies have been fished out while two dead bodies are still trapped inside the bus.
The driver of the bus is among those dead.

So far, Sixteen passengers have been rescued and taken to the nearby hospital.
According to reports, the bus was speeding when the accident happened.
Informing about the tragic incident, Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma wrote, “Pained by the unfortunate MTC bus accident at Nongchram Bridge that claimed precious lives. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and I wish speedy recovery to those injured.”
