Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma launched the Northeast Gastronomy Handbook during the ongoing 'Northeast Food Show 2019'.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Rameswar Teli, CM Pema Khandu and Sikkim Minister B S Panth, were also present during the inauguration of the much'awaited handbook.
During the inauguration, Sangma stated that food is likely to play a key role in the economic development of the region.
In a tweet, Sangma stated, "I second your comment on food becoming a big part of our economic growth in the North East."
It may be mentioned here that the Union Home Ministry has also assured that mega food parks will be established in Meghalaya and Sikkim. Thanking Union Minister Rameshwar Teli for the proposal, Sangma stated on Twitter, "Thank you Hon’ble MoS " data-mentioned-user-id="1135483099712610304">@Rameswar_Teli ji for your assurance to establish new Mega Food Park in Meghalaya & Sikkim. Looking forward to the assistances of your ministry for leveraging value addition & branding of our local food products."
The ‘Northeast Food Show 2019’ is scheduled from December 4 to December 6. The event has been organized in collaboration with the SIAL Group, which is the world’s largest food innovation network.

The focus of the food show is to create a global platform to “inspire food business” and entrepreneurship in Northeast India.
The mega food show has seen representation from all the northeastern states, with their governments showcasing unique products, as well as national and international exhibitors, natural-herbal-organic producers, processing companies and will feature experience zones, Northeast Kitchen, conferences, chief minister’s conclave, chef wars, among other activities.
