Meghalaya CM Attends 'National Milk Day' Celebration at Shillong

The state of Meghalaya, along with the rest of India, is celebrating National Milk Day, which is celebrated every year on November 26, on the occasion of Verghese Kurien's birthday.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, who attended a celebration of National Milk Day in capital city Shillong, shared a picture along with the caption, "Attended the celebration of the National Milk Day in Shillong. It has been an endeavour of my Government to ensure that dairy programme of the State is intensified. We have taken measures to upscale the dairy industry in Meghalaya and Dairy Mission is one such initiative."

The National Milk Day (NMD) is celebrated across India every year on November 26 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s White Revolution.

Verghese Kurien, known as the 'Father of the White Revolution' in India, was a social entrepreneur whose "billion-litre idea", Operation Flood, the world's largest agricultural dairy development programme.
