SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma invited the citizens of the state to join the 'Special Program of Prayer' from their respective homes on Sunday for protection against COVID-19.

Earlier the Meghalaya government had announced that the state would be organizing a special prayer for protection against COVID-19 on May 30.

Interacting with media, State health minister Alexander Laloo Hek had earlier informed that he suggested the idea of the prayer during a discussion with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
“We need God’s intervention and blessings. Without him, we are nobody. That is why we should have a special prayer,” he said.
The minister urged all the residents to take part in the prayer while remaining indoors.
“We request everybody in their respective houses to assemble at noon on May 30 and pray to the almighty for his protection”, he urged.
Meghalaya currently stands at 7741 active cases of COVID-19 while the total count has gone up to 35061. The state so far has recorded 27046 recoveries and 558 deaths.
