Shillong: Meghalaya chief minister and National People's Party (NPP) Conrad K Sangma on Thursday made a stop at Mahendraganj in South Garo Hills, to drum up support for party candidates - Premananda Koch for Zikzak and Linekar Sangma for Nogorpara constituency.
Speaking at the rally, he told the gathering that goverment has undertaken various development and welfare initiatives, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also said that the NPP led government was able to restore peace in the State and put all its attention to ensure growth and development.
Meghalaya is moving ahead with pace, however some districts are left behind, because the MLAs of those areas are not taking any interest, Sangma said, going on to cite that Ampati and Mahendraganj MLAs have never truly raised issues of the constituencies.
Sangma told the people that the ensuing GHADC election has given an opportunity to the people of the constituencies to choose MDCs who will raise voice of the people in the Council and take those concerns to the State.
